Welcome to the Advance Communicative Practice course!

In this course, you will demonstrate skills in presenting academic content using the Testing Second Language Speaking (TSLS) method. You will also integrate conversational strategies in formulating questions in a foreign language and apply critical teaching theories in communicative situations. The course begins with an exploration of TSLS and functional language, where you will focus on using functional language to respond to narratives and express opinions in various contexts, including telephone conversations. Later, you will delve into the differences between verbal and non-verbal language and their roles in communication. Additionally, you will study how to use intonation and stress to emphasize meaning and explore the implementation of non-verbal language in teaching English as a foreign language.

Unit 1: Second Language Speaking Method (TSLS) and Functional Language 1

Second Language Speaking Method (TSLS). Narratives - Use of functional language to respond to different texts.

  1. Functional Language 1: Expression of opinions (Debating, persuading, and counterarguing. Telephone conversations - Formulation of complaints over the phone, appointment requests, strategies for clarification of situations).

Unit 2 : Verbal Language vs. Non-verbal Language

  1. Identification of non-verbal language qualities.
  2. Differences between the use of verbal and non-verbal language.

Unit 3: Functional Language 2

  1. Identification of qualities in informal and academic language.
  2. Use of intonation and stress to emphasize and change the meaning of what is expressed.

Welcome to the course "Formative Practice I"!

In this course, we will concentrate on the application of research methods through didactics and educational practice. You will figure out what is going on in academic situations and educational contexts by watching and using precise and accurate pedagogical tools, make new tools for teaching foreign languages, and make sense of what you see in teaching by looking at you want to learn and what you are trying to achieve.

Throughout the course, fundamental topics such as conditionals review, narrative tenses, modal perfects, and future forms, among others, will be covered. The importance of mastering these advanced aspects of English lies in the ability to communicate effectively and accurately in both personal and professional situations. As we progress, you will improve your ability to initiate, maintain, and conclude complex conversations, as well as to understand and write detailed and coherent texts.
